Movie Nights
Several times a year the PTA sponsors movie nights in the multipurpose room where we present a family-friendly film on the big screen. We sell popcorn and pizza and students and families are invited to bring their pillows and sleeping bags to get cozy while they watch. Door prizes are awarded!
Volunteers are needed to sell concessions and more.
Fairlington 5K & Silent Auction
Each April the Abingdon and Fairlington communities come together to sponsor the Fairlington 5K run/walk, organized in part by the Abingdon PE teachers to benefit our physical education and literacy programs and to raise money for Abingdon student Ellie McGinn, who has a rare disease called Leukodystrophy.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks. Stay tuned for specifics.
Library Nights
Our fabulous librarian Ms. Fatourous, accompanied by our talented team of reading specialists and in collaboration with other teachers hold library nights several times a year to invite students and families to school for special literacy activities. Students usually have the chance to check out an extra book at the library that night, and parents have the chance to learn more about what's new in children's literature.
Arts and Technology Showcase Events
Several times each year we offer families the chance to observe our students in action demonstrating the reults of our emphasis on the integration of arts and technology into all of our teaching and learning. This year our arts and technology showcase events will be:

Holiday Shop
Each December Abingdon students have the chance to shop for holiday gifts for their loved ones in our special holiday shop in the gym. Parent and staff volunteers help shoppers find the right gifts for their budgets.
Volunteers are needed to sell concessions, organize the shop, and help students shop.
